About K9 Web

K9 Web has been a trusted voice in the dog-loving community for over 30 years — a rare milestone for any pet website.

Founded in 1992 by Cindy Moore, K9 Web began as a passion project to make accurate, dog-friendly information available to everyone online. Much of the early content was collected from community forums like rec.pets.dogs and carefully reviewed with the help of experienced dog experts to ensure it was both helpful and correct.

Over the decades, K9 Web has grown through the contributions of dedicated advisors and dog lovers. Contributors such as Michael Mahler, Marla Belzowski, Liza Lee Miller, Michael Buening, and many more have helped shape the resource you see today. Many of their insights continue to appear throughout the site, alongside the names of other individual page authors.

Trusted references like the Dog Owner’s Home Veterinary Handbook by Delbert G. Carlson, DVM, and James M. Giffin, MD, have also played a key role in shaping our health-related content — and continue to serve as essential guides for pet parents.

While it’s impossible to name every contributor, we are deeply grateful to all who have helped build K9 Web into a valuable resource for dog owners around the world. Your knowledge, passion, and care have made this community what it is today.

K9 Web remains committed to delivering reliable, well-researched, and easy-to-understand dog care advice to support pet owners at every stage of their journey.

The Story of K9 Web

Back in the 1990s, K9 Web was one of the internet’s first go-to resources for dog lovers — a true one-stop shop filled with reliable canine care information. It quickly became so popular that founder Cindy Moore often had to limit site traffic just to keep it online. As she put it, “Bandwidth back then was incredibly expensive — keeping the site running wasn’t always easy.”

Here’s a look at one of our original homepage logos from that era:

Ah, the ’90s… complete with drop shadows and early internet charm. Thankfully, both technology and design have come a long way since then.

K9 Web Today

Today, K9 Web remains 100% independent, just as it was when it started. We’re not owned by any big company — which means we can focus solely on what matters most: giving dog owners honest, helpful, and expert-backed information.

We continue to grow beyond our original articles, adding fresh, well-researched content to help guide dog parents through every stage of their pup’s life — from choosing the right breed to health care, training, nutrition, and more.

We do our best to keep all our information current and accurate, but we also rely on the support of our community. If you spot anything that needs updating, we welcome your feedback — after all, K9 Web has always been built with dog lovers, by dog lovers.
